    Word mailmerge and page numbering

    Hi
Can anyone please tell me if there's a way to page number continually when doing a mailmerge. I have a labels mailmerge I'd like the labels to have page numbering at the top and bottom. All I get is the same page ie page 1 on every page.

    Any help is greatly appreicated.

    Thanks in advance.

If your purpose is to put the page numbers in the header & footer of each merged document, they are not retained in a mail merge. What you can do is complete your merge, then open up the header/footer in the final document & insert your {PAGE} field.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Phil for your reply. I have tried that but to no avail but I've found another solution. The method you suggested gave me page 1 on all pages because of the Section break (next page) word creates when it does a mailmerge. So what I did was insert a page number on page 1 in header/footer then selected all the other pages and went back to header/footer clicked on Format page number and clicked on Continue from Previous, and it seemed to do the trick!

    Sorry about the longwinded explanation!

Thanks for posting back the solution. I was careless in my reply--I actually did a merge & then put a {SECTION} field in each header, to act as a page number. That will work so long as each section is only 1 page.
