    Reviewing Toolbar (2002)

Everytime I open a document created by someone else, the Reviewing Toolbar opens. None of our users turn on track changes, so I'm wondering why the reviewing toolbar appears. Anybody know?

Boy, I just read a tip on this yesterday & lost it. It's something to do with the fact that if you receive a document by email, Word thinks it's sent for review. The cure was something like, go into File/Properties/Custom properties & find 4 custom properties that start with an underscore (_). Delete these. I'll see if I can find the complete tip.
    Cheers,

When you find it will you see if they also have a tip for stopping the ***** Acrobat 6 toolbar reappearing every time you open a document. The sheer arrogance of some programmers amazes me!

...what at mind. You nailed it.

Now, just to clarify. I removed only the first custom property: _AdHocReviewCycleID, saved the document and reopened without the reviewing toolbar. Also, there are 5 such

    _AdHocReviewCycleID
    _EmailSubject
    _AuthorEmail
    _AuthorEmailDisplayName
    _ReviewingToolsShownOnce

    Hi Stuart:
I don't have Acrobat 6, but it's got to be something in the startup folder, no? I wonder if you can just load it when you need it.

Glad I could help. Funny how these things work. I was getting frustrated trying to organize tips that I collect & figured that since I don't even have Word 2002, I should just start weeding some things out. This was one I threw out. It's things like this that cause me to remain anal retentive. <img src=/S/rofl.gif border=0 alt=rofl width=15 height=15>

    Stuart,
You can turn this tool bar off by removing the check mark listed in the menu item, "Acrobat Comments". I had a he?? of a time finding this also.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Dave,

I really wish you hadn't pointed this out. My Acrobat Comments toolbar has two items marked "Reviewing Toolbar" that both seem to enable / disable the display of the Reviewing Toolbar, but not the Acrobat toolbar!!!

I have gone with Jefferson's suggestion of disabling the thing.

I see that you also have 2 entries in the "Menu" for Acrobat Comments", did you install Acrobat twice?

    "did you install Acrobat twice"
Not intentionally, and there is only one Add-In installed. I did have some installation problems but nothing serious!
