    Registry Modification (IE6)

    Hi

I'm not sure if this is the right area to ask, but I;ll give it a try and sorry if its not.

My problem is I keep getting a Registry modification message (Via Ad Watch) whenever I open IE.

    The message reads:
    Root: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    Key: SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
    Value:Bsx3
    Data:
    New Data: RunDLL32.EXE C:WINDOWSbs.dll, DLLRUN
Attempt to alter autostart section (Blocked)

The message also comes up whenever I open a new IE windows even when I have a window already open.
I don't know if this has anything to do with a virus etc

    Thanks in advance
    Dax

    Re: Registry Modification (IE6)

    Hi Dax:
Ad Watch is part of Ad-Aware, which I assume you have. It means that some adware has been downloaded onto your system & wants to load every time you start your browser. Run Ad-Aware & it should clean your system. Also, look in the Software forum & you'll see links for Spybot also. This is another good program to use. For the most part, Ad-Aware looks for spyware as opposed to viruses, so it's a good idea to have an up-to-date antivirus program also.
    Hope this helps,

Also when you follow Phil's advice Dax make sure you click on the globe at the top 2nd from right on "Adaware's toolbar" so that you'll be working with the latest reference data base--they update it an average of every 3-4 days. Spybot has a place you can find to "Search for updates"--third large button down which will go to their site and download the frequent data base updates also.
