What are you trying to do when you get this message? "Server" can also be thoguht of as "a process that listens for and accepts connections from other processes" rather than a type of device. For example, the file and print sharing feature of your copy of Windows requires the Server service to be running.

Hi. I'm not trying to anything other than read email messages on Yahoo, for example. The message just keeps irritatingly popping up.

    More diagnostic questions:
    1.
What antivirus software are you running? (For example, McAfee, Norton, PC-cillin, etc.)

Do you run a firewall program? If so, which one? (For example, the built-in Internet Connection Firewall, ZoneAlarm, etc.)

Which browser are you using to read your mail. Internet Explorer? What Security Zone is displayed in the lower right corner when you are checking your mail. Trusted? Internet? (I might ask you to modify your setting for downloading ActiveX controls.)

Have you ever scanned your computer for "spyware"? (A number of scanners have been recommended on the Software Finds & Wants board.)
This should help us pin down the irritant.

I'm curious why your post is entitled "P2P Networking (S1)." ?????
