    VB Script Writing

When doing file maintenace type activities (move or copy usually) an unknown program writes a VB script into the My Documents folder. McAfee finds it on the next mornings scan and deletes it. However after rebooting, the same thing can happen again.

Is there a program available to log system activity so I might try to have aniother occurence and possibly identify the culprit? When this happened yesterday, I was trying to format a floppy in the A drive and the bottom of the dialog box indicated "Do not [couldn't see] critical to Windows operation"

    Is it viral?

FileMon at www.sysinternals.com should log the disk write. At least that is what I've heard, since I haven't tried it yet.

I'm inclined to agree with Jeff's suspicion of a virus. Do you have a real-time virus scanner? (That is one that runs in the background and scans your files as you open them.) If not it would be good safe-hex practice to consider one. <img src=/S/lightbulb.gif border=0 alt=lightbulb width=15 height=15>
