In consumer versions of Windows, the File Types dialog (Windows Explorer: Tools>Folder Options...>File Types>MDB>Advanced...) has a checkbox entitled "Confirm Open After Download." I don't know if this is relevant in your situation as I thought it related to non-LAN files.

If the box is grayed out, could be a local or group policy.

    John--

Two places you might try. You can use a group policy setting by Opening Group Policy Editor or the GPMC and Expand Computer Configuration>Administrative Tools>System and double click Verbose versus normal status messages; Set option to enabled or disabled whichever makes sense there>Close GPE--enable disabling verbose messages or disable enabling verbose the way GPE has that reverse Redmond English in their dialogue boxes.

You can export the reg key and try this reg hack:

    Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    Key: SOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionpoliciessyst em
    Name: VerboseStatus
    Type: REG_DWORD
    Value: 1 default=0
Note: Status messages will not display if the following key is present and the value is set to 1: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersionPoliciesSystemDisableStatusMessages

    SMBP
