Recover Deleted Items Causes Outlook to Close (2000 SR-1 9.0.0.4527)

I have 3 customers that are having trouble with Recovering Deleted Items.

    THE PROBLEM:
They go to the Tools menu, choose Recover Deleted Items, the window opens, and then Outlook immediately shuts down with no errors.

    BACKGROUND:
We're running with Exchange Server 5.5 and the installation of Outlook is Corporate Workgroup

THINGS I'VE TRIED AND HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM:
    Detect and Repair of Outlook
    Removed and readded Outlook profiles
Verified the Exchange server is set up correctly to recover deleted items.
    Repair of Office
    Repair of Internet Explorer 5.5

Does anyone else have ideas of what we can try? Has anyone else experienced the problem?

    Thanks.

I currently have a user experiencing the same problem. The background is the same and I've tried similar fixes. Problem would appear to be within the users profile on the specific desktop as I don't experience the same problem when logged in under my profile. I would have thought removing and readding the profile would have corrected this problem but didn't.

Have you discovered a fix for this problem???

    Thanks
    Ron

    Sorry Ron, no solution yet.

For one user, we restandardized (put a fresh image on) and the problem still appeared. So we're really stumped. We're running Exchange Server 5.5. We did the same thing, having another user sign on to the problem machine and the it works fine for that person.

Let me know if you find a solution. I will post it here if I do.

Have you found the solution? If not, I'd ask if you used the same profile name when you recreated them. Some profile data is stored on the server as well as the PC. If you had a corrupt profile and used the same name, you might have tripped over that. A different profile will cause the loss of most customizations, but it might be worth it.

Yes, I did use the same profile name when I recreated it. I'll try giving it another name and post the results.

I've resolved our problem by having my Exchange Server support delete and recreate the users profile on the server. The user had to rebuild her profile on the local desktop and it's now working fine. Thanks to all for the help.

Ron, do you mean, delete and recreate the users mailbox? Or profile?

If you mean profile, can you ask your support person where that function is located? I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Sarah
