Any way to change File System from NTSF to FAT32? (XP Pro SP1)

A co-worker installed XP pro over 2000Pro and somehow managed to change the file system to NTSF. I've tried reiinstalling Win2000Pro that didn't work and I've tried booting from the Win2000Pro emergency boot disks, but that doesn't work either. Now, when I boot up that system, I have to choose between XP and 2000. All I really want to do is get rid of Win2000.

    Thanks in advance for guideance.

Looks like you are going to need to do a format and clean install of 2K. Once the file system has been converted to NTFS, the only way to go back to FAT32 is to do a format.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Thanks, Dave. I should have mentioned that was exactly what I was trying to do...format the hard drive, but it wouldn't let me do that.

I think you will need to do the formatting while in the setup. There is a option during setup to do a clean formated install. You can NOT format from a DOS booted floppy, because you can not change a NTFS disk from DOS.

During the installation you should be offered an opportunity to DELETE the existing partition and then Create a new one. If you do this then it will let you choose NTFS or FAT for the new partition, unless the size exceeds the maximum for FAT32.
