changing smart quotes to straight (Word 2000)

I have a user who has to use straight quotes some of the time and smart other times. She often gets documents that have the "wrong" type of quotes and needs to change them quickly. It is easy enough to change straight to smart through autoformat, but how can I change smart to straight without having to use find and replace? Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think you can change them without using Find/Replace. You could record or write a macro that would change them by using Find/Replace, but I can't see another way to do it. Of course, if you need both types in the same document, then you need to operate only on a selection, rather than the entire document--OR--go through each one & decide.
    Cheers,
