    Word Art on A Non-scribbled Curve (10.5522.4219 SP2)

I got WordArt to display on a curve using the scribble line tool, as described in WOW 8.37. However, trying the same procedure using the curve tool to create the curve, all I get is a blank page with an invisible shape box and an invisible WordArt box on it. I can make the shape box visible by giving it a fill color, but this doesn't seem to work with the WordArt Box.

I know that the WordArt is there because I can view it in the Edit Text dialogue box. Additionally, I can get it to display by changing the WordArt style, but the text, though apparently on my curve, is unintelligible. Changing back to the simple curved text renders the text invisible again.

Any hints on how to make the trick work on a smooth (not scribbled) curve?

    Thanks,
    Terry

Can you post a sample document? This is a bit difficult to sort out in the abstract. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Anyone can duplicate this quickly at home by following the directions in WOW, but using the curve autoshape tool instead of the scribble tool. However, the attached file (doc5.doc) will illustrate the problem. Open it in Word. You'd actually be creating the text on a curve in an html file, but since you can't post an html file to the lounge, I've converted it to a .doc.

At the top you will see the original WordArt and the smooth curve I wanted to superimpose it on. Below that you should see a purple square, which is what's left of the autoshape after following the text on a curve procedure (because you cut the shape style rather than copying it). I've colorized the box so that it is visible. To the left of that is the WordArt that should be on the curve. I made it visible by increasing the line weight to 75 points (it defaults to .75 point). Hope this makes the problem clearer.
