SumIF (XP)

How do I write a SUMIF statement that considers multiple criteria. For example, I have written a formula successfully that will add up a list of numbers, on condition that the adjoining cell = New York. I would like to write the formula so that it will add the list of numbers up if the adjoing cell = New York, Buffalo or Rochester.

    Thanks

SUMIF can not do multiple criteria. Therefore, you will need to use an Array Formula (hold down Ctrl+Shift when you press the Enter key to enter the formula). If New York, Buffalo or Rochester is in A1:A100, and the numbers you want to add are in B1:B100, then the following array formula should do what you want:

=SUM(((A1:A100="New York")+(A1:A100="Buffalo")+(A1:A100="Rochester"))* B1:B100)
