ActiveX (Flash) and persisting user data

An on-line Flash game is able to save user data -- such as your last position and the number of objects you have collected. That way, when you return to the game, it puts you back in the same spot you left off.

    HOW?

Where is the data kept at -- on their server? Sound inefficient for a game played by tens of thousands of people.

Is it in your cookie? Or does Flash store persistent user data somewhere else?

    Thanks.

Most likely the Flash movie is using cookies. I haven't tried this yet, but it seems reasonably simple to work with cookies in Flash: Baking Flash cookies

You are 1000% right!! I just copied my cookie to another computer and I was back to where was I supposed to be!

    Thanks for the link.

How long before you figure out how to give yourself another 9 lives? <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>

Hopefully soon. But it is a little more complicated and intriguing than that... When/if I have time I can elaborate.
