WordXP: Selecting Words in Locked Form? (XP SP-2)

    Hi,

In a locked form, using the keyboard or even the mouse, it seems so difficult to just select one WORD in a sentence. The cursor jumps to the end or start of the cell.

Have any of you experienced this palaver & how did you overcome it?

You cannot select in a protected section. Why do you need to do this?

If you are trying to select a word inside a formtext field in a protected document, you can do that. If the word isn't the first or last word, you can double click it. If it's the first or last word, then the entire field is selected. That is by design. If you want to select the first or last word in the field, the easiest way is to use the shift key + an arrow key. However, you can also select the first or last word by dragging, rather than by double clicking.
    Cheers,

My problem is in manipulating text in the form field entry.
See attached scrn. shot. I use want to select one or a few words in the middle of the line to delete them let's say, but it always jumps right to the end.

How can I just select 1 word or character without the selection always jumping to the end?!

    Hi Musab:
I think what you're talking about is in a NON protected form. When the document is NOT protected for forms & you click inside a formfield, then the entire formfield is selected. I don't know the reason, but that's how it works. Presumably it's so you can more easily delete the entire field while you're still designing it. When you reprotect the document, all the formfields become blank, unless you've modified the commands. See this article

In any event, the solution is to use the keyboard to select & not the mouse, or make the changes while the document is protected.
    Cheers,
