PocketPC 2002: MSContacts Name Display Sequence Ch

    Hi,

The Contacts default to the "Surname, Forname" format - how can one change the display to the reverse?

    Hi musab,
It might depend on what PDA and PIM program you are using. I'm running an Axim on PC2002 with OL2000 and my Contacts display is in Forname, Surname order because that's how I configured OL to display it (on the desktop PC) and save it in that order in the 'file as' field. I haven't found any option on the Axim to re-sort the name order but in any event I would have thought that this type of parameter would always be set on the desktop PC within the PIM program. I've always used Forname, Surname since I started with Access2 and OL97 (before that an Amstrad PCW!!!) and have never looked at reversing the order. Post back with more info on your setup and I'll see if I can give more specific help. HTH.

Thanks for the reply. This PC has a similar setup to yours, but the Outlook on the PC is XP, not 2000.

My question is, with OutlookXP, how do you "save it in that order in the 'file as' field" - maybe if I do that it'll solve my palaver

Do yourself a favour. Check out Pocket Informant at www.pocketinformant.com. So much more than a substitute for Outlook on a PPC!

    Hi David,
Useful tip - always good to know of alternatives.
    Musab,
I don't run OL2002 (yet) but for OL2000 the answer to your question re 'file as' is:- Tools, Options, Preferences, Contact Options, wherein you can select the default settings for the way contact names are stored and hence displayed on the PC and PDA. I would think the procedure is similar in OL2002.
