Outlook 2002 sp2 keeps receiving same emails (Outlook 2002-SP2)

    Hi
Since installing Outlook on my new computer it keeps receiving the same messages over and over again from my ISP. I have the option checked to leave a copy of the message on the server and delete after 10 days or when deleted from the deleted items folder but this doesn't seem to be a problem on my Outlook 2000 or 98 computers. I also sometimes get an error after receiving that says
Task 'Mick - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800ccc90): The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem persists contact your server administrator or ISP
As I don't have the problem on my other computers I'm fairly sure it's an Outlook setup problem and not an ISP problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Any help is much appreciated

Several years ago I read that Outlook maintains a file, I think its name starts with RHC..., that helps it remember which messages it already has downloaded. If the download is interrupted, it is possible that the file is not updated properly to reflect the partial success in retrieving messages. But I haven't investigated this in detail.
