    Spybot's System Internals

I ran Spybot using the option to display problems with System Internals & it's come up with several registry entries & then says that help files are missing. I checked & the registry entries in question do have the wrong path. They all point to "c:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice1033", whereas the help files are located in different locations. My help files all work!

Has anyone ever "fixed" the registry entries that Spybot says are incorrect? I also wasn't sure whether Spybot would back up these changes, so I could undo them if I had problems. Perhaps Office looks for these entries when you use repair or Add/Remove, so I'm leary about "fixing" what "ain't broke".
    Thanks,

    Re: Spybot's System Internals

I've seen this kind of thing before. My guess, just a guess, is that the "errors" are additional entries that haven't been used as it were. Something like you suggest sounds quite viable - I believe Office installs tend to add a lot of registry entries that may or may not end up getting "used", depending on what components you end up installing at the time or later on. I've also heard that it's not a good idea to "fix" (read as remove) them because they may not get added as required when a new component is added from the installation disk... then there really will be an error.

    I'm a bad computer user (with Spybot S & D). I run it, and let it fix everything. I haven't (yet) come across a problem, that was due to this reckless, self-inflicted behaviour. <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16>
