    Default document (2002/sr2 (?))

My daughter was using my wife's computer the other day, and did some work on a school paper. She is not sure what she has done, but now whenever we open word on my wife's machine we get my daughter's paper on panda bears. Interesting reading, but we'd rather just have the usual empty document show up !

How do I change the default back ? Has a document been inadvertantly overwritten ?

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

Do a Save As to save the paper in a convenient place, then close Word, find Normal.dot, and rename it to abNormal.dot. When you restart Word, some of your customizations should be missing, but your document will be blank. If you can't live without those customizations, post back and we can help you through migrating them to the new Normal template.

Sounds like she must have overwritten NORMAL.DOT

Look in Words Tools > Options > File Locations tab to find the correct location for User Templates
Go to that folder, right click on Normal.Dot and choose OPEN (Do not double click it)
Delete the contents and save it
