    Find Archived Files (Outlook 2002)

I got an Outlook message at the end of last week that suggested my program might run better if I archived items that had not been recently accessed. Although I have not previously done so, I decided to go ahead with it this time. Unfortunately, it seems to have archived

The archive file is a separate file which you must open to reimport the items you want back. In Outlook 2000 (the menu may vary a little by version), go into Tools, Options, Other, Autoarchive, and make a note of the file path and name, OK back out. Now menu to File, Open, Personal Folders File, browse to the archive file, open it and drag back the keepers.

JScher2000 has a good trick in that he always keeps his archive file(s) open to look for old stuff. Myself, I just don't archive anything. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Re: Find Archived Files (Outlook 2002)

I changed my archive file location so that I could automatically back it up (along with everything else). Now when I look at my folder list, I have 2 archive folder listings....one that directs me to the default one and one that directs me to my changed archive file location. How can I get rid of default one (it's in my Documents and Settings tree)? Any ideas? .....Tired of seeing doubles BTW...the default one has no data in it...I moved it all over to the new file location.

Do you see the old Archive in your Folders, or under a dialog? Can you close it?

It is in my Folders....not under a dialog. And, yes, I can close it....I didn't know I could do that. Will it stay closed without further intervention? Thanks!

Once closed it should not reopen unless you intentionally reopen it.
