    Critical Updates

I have a computer at home running Windows XP. I wanted to get all of the critical updates, but only have a 56K modem (Broadband is not available yet). After several hours, I only installed a few of them!

At work, I have broadband access & was wondering if it is possible to download the updates & save them as files on my work PC, burn a CD & then run the updates at home from the CD?

    Many Thanks,

    Kevin Duck

'swot I'd do in that circumstance... You'd think that Microsoft would supply a CD of the latest and greatest fixes to all those people who had to register their copy of XP at installation time, wouldn't you? Probably on a monthly basis .... <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

As recommended by SMBP on many an occasion, the best place to get them from is probably the "Microsoft Security" website (if the association of these two words doesn't make you laugh too much!).

Just scroll down a bit to find the MSmm-nnn problem that interests you, and having clicked on a few links you'll end up with a button that says Download, which you just Save to an area of your hard disk. Iterate until satisfied, or bored!

    Re: Critical Updates

Kevin, Go to the Windows update site. In the left panel if you do not see 'Windows Update Catalog' go to 'Personalize Windows Update' and allow the catalog to be shown. Then, go to Windows update catalog. You should be able to search and download whatever you wish for various MS OSes. Then you can burn to a CD and take home.
