Personal Information Manager

I am looking for recommendations for a Personal Information Manager for someone. I am trying to stay away from the one in Outlook if at all possible, since I have them weaned off of it for e-mail.

I have done a google and got only 425,000 results, so I'd like to narrow it down if at all possible

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Re: Personal Information Manager

I assume you're talking about on the PC, huh Bryan? If so, why not try the Palm Desktop? As far as I can see, that shouldn't be a copyright problem, at least not the last time this question was asked and I looked around on their web site. That way, if the person ever DID buy a Palm PDA he/she would already be ready to roll. My needs are such that the Palm Desktop software has all the subsets that I need. Just a thought.....

If you're looking for more of a super address book (and not so much a scheduler) then I recommend PhoneDeck at

Re: Personal Information Manager

There's a much reduced selection to browse here.
Organised in categories: (Calendar) (Cataloguer) (Media Organizer) (Note Manager) (Reminders - Alarms - Notes)
All ware of course .

Yea. PIM For PC.

I never thought of the Palm Desktop. I may just have to read the ELUA and see if that's possible.

I like the Palm Desktop as well. It's what I use.

Thanks.

Thanks. I am looking for something with a scheduler as well. Although, for just an address book, this looks great.

I wrote a support request a short time ago to Palm, since I looked again and can't find a EULA. If you find anything, let me know please. Thnx!

Re: Personal Information Manager

Sorry, not for your kinds of needs I don't think. I have used a selection of the tree-style programs mentioned there, as information organizers, but my reminders are scraps of paper on the (real) desktop. As for scheduling, it's when my necktop reminds me . In general though, the Pricelessware selection are the freeware in each category voted to be the best in alt.comp.freeware. So most do come "highly" recommended in that sense.

What about the Yahoo Calendar website? It could then be accessible to anyone, anywhere (security can (and should) be applied). I've used it on and off. It ties in with the rest of their services too, if I remember correctly.

Chris,

They are looking for an offline PIM, but I'll tuck this into the black hole for future.

Thanks.

Re: Personal Information Manager

This look like it has potential, considering they actually explained what they wanted it for and not just as scheduling and contact manager.

Thanks.
