    Hiddle Text (Word 2000/SR1)

When one selects some text and using the menu item Format|Font and check the hidden Text box the text appears on screen, underlined with a dotted line. Is there a way to surpress that underline or change it's color?

If you select the text and then Format to Font you will see an Underline Color drop down arrow right beside the Underline Style drop down arrow. I didn't see the underline style change, but the color did.

The dotted underline under hidden text appears to be the same colour as the text. So you can easily change it by changing the font colour. I don't know any way to make it a different colour to the font.

Are you planning to plan an April Fool's joke on someone? Why would you hide the fact that text is hidden from yourself while editing a document?

No April fools. We are developing Word template applications where there are text sections that always need to appear in the document when viewing on screen but must never show up during printing but management does not like seeing the underlines.

    Hi Jim:
You can create a character or paragraph style for hidden text. If, for example, you create a character style called Hide that is based on the default paragraph style + hidden, you can modify it. Go to Format/Style & choose Format/Font. There, you can suppress or change the underline style & color. Of course, this will not prevent users from applying the hidden property to other text.
    Cheers,
