    Close all open windows

Can I create a command that i can use in a shortcut that will close all open widows with one simple click?

    Thanks

Presumably that means closing all programs?

    Have a look at EndItAll.

Not quite what you're after, but if you hold down CTRL and click all the icons in the task bar one by one, this will "select" them all. When you get to the last one (still with CTRL pressed) right-click it and select Close. This will close the lot. No use for stuff in the system tray though, I'm afraid.

If you're up for a little "script" training, you might want to take a look at AutoIt. I haven't tried it on YOUR question, but I think you could create a looping script to get the title of the Active Window, close it, loop the script until there are no more active windows and quit. AutoIt is a fun program to play around with and I'm still using it to automate my nightly file backups.

These are all the XP shortcut keys that Microsoft knows about. I don't know whether any of these would assist? Alt-F4 goes some way towards what you want... But you may want to End It All (as above)!

    Simon--

This may not be "all that" you're after, but you can use Alt+Shift+F4 to close the current IE Window and all the parent windows in one easy step. To close a folder and all parent folders, hold down Shift while hitting the folder's close box or use the above 3 keys.

Ed. by SMBP: As John is saying, Alt +F4 will close the current window.

This could likely be done with VB Script. You might want to ask in that forum...
