    Create an MDE (XP/2000/97)

I have a front end database which I am want to convert to an MDE. When I go to the file menu, convert to MDE is greyed out.

I have done this on several occasions, in 97 but is there something I do not know about in XP?

In XP you can only create an MDE in XP format, so if your database is in 2000 (default) or 97 format, the Create MDE is greyed out.

    Thanks Wendell,

Aaah <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23> . Here is my problem then, I am creating an application in XP for a set of PC's running on 2000.

If I finish the job off on my laptop (on XP ) then copy it over their PC's running on 2000. Can I convert the mdb into a mde on their PC's.

You should be able to as long as they have a resonably complete install of Access - I would suggest you pick one system and build the MDE on it and then deploy it to all the rest.
