    Attachment Location (Outlook 2002)

When you attach a file to a mail message. The attachment shows up in different locations. Sometimes until the Subject field and sometimes as an icon on the bottom of the message form. Why? What drives that....

    Re: Attachment Location (Outlook 2002)

In an e-mail in HTML format or as unformatted text, attachment are shown in a separate line below the subject. In an e-mail in RTF format, attachments are shown as icons in the message body.

You can set a default format for new e-mails you create in Tools | Options..., but Outlook will display incoming e-mails in the format they were created in by the sender, so you can have e-mails in each of the three formats in your Inbox.

Except that in XP, I think when the format is HTML, the attachments show up right under the subject line.

I think I meant the same as you, but I probably failed to express it correctly in English.

<img src=/S/grovel.gif border=0 alt=grovel width=31 height=23> You expressed it perfectly, I misread it in haste, thinking that you said they appear under a line at the bottom of the message, which they did for plaintext and HTML in 2000 and prior.
