    Custom E-mail Menu (2000/SR1)

I think I am losing my mind. A while back I saw a tip, I think it was on Microsoft's web site, Crabby Office Lady or something, that showed how to set up a custom menu, that would allow me to set up e-mail messages that are pre-addressed and even have the subject and some text entered. I am pretty sure that I set up the e-mail, in an e-mail window and then saved it somehow so that it was available on the menu.

Now, I want to add some additional items, and show others how to do it, and I can't remember how I did it before. I've searched and all I can find is how to add an item, then customize it through Assign Hyperlink. The problem with this method is that you have to be able to enter the entire e-mail address and it doesn't allow to fill in with some of the text in the message portion.

Did I just imagine that there was a way to do this or does it really exist? Thanks for your help.

The two common ways to save pre-formatted e-mails are (1) Outlook forms and (2) Outlook templates.

Templates are easier to understand from the system level. They are saved just like messages, but with a .oft extension. Draft a messages, choose File>Save

Is this what you are after?

    1. Right click on the toolbar, left click on

Thanks for your help. I'm so sure that there was a way to do this that didn't involve the Assign Hyperlink but I just can't seem to find it anywhere. Maybe I was just on another planet that day, it happens sometimes. <img src=/S/alien.gif border=0 alt=alien width=14 height=15>

    Thanks again.

If it was Crabby Office Lady, <!post=Don Sadler's URL,301693>Don Sadler's URL<!/post> appears to be very close to Crabby's Tip. They are close enough, that considering Woody's expressed concern that Crabby has, um, "borrowed" some of Woody's Tips, it makes you wonder who first came up with the tip.

    FWIW here's A Directory of Crabby's Tips.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I was sure that had done this once without doing the Assign Hyperlink and was able to create a message with a pre-defined format and then save it to a menu. I know about creating the personal forms but they seem cumbersome to get to and I can't seem to create a shortcut. Thanks again for all the help.
