creating nonsense paragraphs (2002)

Recently (say 4-6 months), Woody described a command that would create one or more nonsense paragraphs in Word. Apparently, it was a quick way to create text that could then be used by Microsoft techs. Can you tell me the command?

The simplest form is to type =rand() in an empty paragraph, then press Enter. This will create three paragraphs of five sentences "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" each.

If you want another number of paragraphs or sentences per paragraph, use (for example) =rand(7,2) to create 7 paragraphs of 2 sentences each.

=rand() & then press <enter>

To control the number paragraphs & number of sentences per paragraph, use:
=rand(p,s) & then press <enter>.

Quite frankly, if you want something more complex, with section breaks, etc., just create an autotext entry.
Cheers,

I like the stereo response above!

But were you referring to the Latin text usually used by Adobe Pagemaker (inter alia!) usually called Lorem ipsum?

John

Ita, esto, quidcumque...

As far as I know, there is no "Lorem ipsum" generator built into Word. But if you like, you can store the text as an AutoText fragment named (for instance) "lipsum". Inserting the fragment a number of times is easy then.

The best Microsoft can do is this!
John

Ita, esto, quidcumque...

I'll check it out when available; the KnowledgeBase seems to be down at the moment.
