    undeliverable mail (2000 SP-3)

Since Friday I cannot send email from my University account when I access the account using Outlook. Strangely (or not), I am receiving all messages sent to the account. When I try to send an email I get following message from System Administrator:

"Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
    Subject: test
    Sent: 9/29/2003 3:30 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
    '[not_my_name]@hotmail.com' on 9/29/2003 3:30 PM
No transport provider was available for delivery to this recipient."

I previously sent this message to the Postmaster but he (she) has not replied.

    Thanks in advance,
    Trimer

Is this problem just with one or some Hotmail recipients? Or other domain recipients? Perhaps the particular recipients' account is closed, or perhaps Hotmail is refusing e-mails from your domain, but there could be other problems ...

    JohnBF,
First, thanks for your reply to my "tardy" msg re. Calander reminder.

Regarding present problem - it applies to all recipients. Heard from Postmaster who said to change SMTP servername to my cable server, viz., mail.comcast.net. That didn't work either.

Somewhere in the Lounge recently there was a discussion of whether Comcast might now required authentication to send mail through its SMTP servers. Did Comcast give you any instructions for setting up your Comcast mail account? Try using the outgoing server settings (including any username/password required for authentication) for your Comcast mail as your outgoing settings for your University mail account. (I have to do something like this when I travel, using my dial-up account settings on my work account.)

    Got it working!
    Used stmp.comcast.net.
Only concern now is How Did STMP Servername change since Outook worked fine all year (?).
    Thanks for your help folks!

Ever since ComCast took over from Attbi, it has been this way. With Attbi it was "mail" in both positions (incoming and out going).

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
