Drive Letters (XP Home SR1)

In the now forgotten world of W98se one could control the letter assigned to a device. Installed a USB thumb memory. It was assigned a drive letter before my CD. I'd like to have the CD drive letter as the last instead. Just because...
Is this an easy or hard?

Ladimer,

Go to Start>Programs>Administrative tools>Computer Management>
Highlight the drive to change, Click on "action" tab>all tools>change drive letters & paths.

You can change any of the drive letter designations to whatever you wish, from here.

Ladimer--

I can remember the now forgotten world of 98 enough to know that to do this is a piece of cake in Windows XP:

Right click My Computer>Manage>Computer Management>Drives in Right Pane>Rt. Click the Drive or Device to be Changed>Click Change Drive Letters and Paths>Change>Assign the Following Drive Letter>Click OK. You will not be able to change the boot or system drive letter in this manner. Many MS-DOS-based and Windows-based programs make references to a specific drive letter (for example, environment variables). If you modify the drive letter, these programs may not function correctly.

Bob--

I've seen posts that crossed each other all the time, but maybe we can enter the "Syncronized Swimming" in the Athens 2004 Olympics.

Yeah,

I saw your post just as I posted my post, so to speak. Exact same time stamp. Maybe it should be extended to hundreths of a second?

SMBP,

BTW, I could NEVER stand watching Syncronized swimming events. Could never understand how they could be "Olympic" events.

Remind me of those old Esther Williams movie things.

Sorry, I've only seen maybe a dozen two-way ties and one three-way tie. Not going to make the top 10 changes for the next round.

My thanks to you both. It worked like magic compared to W98se. And yes, I remember Ester Williams. As a teen I surely remember her big...eyes.
