    Outlook Freezing (Can't see)

Can't get Outlook running to see what version it is.
Brand new computer. New installation of Office XP, SP1 & SP2. Yet Outlook was wonky & froze all the time. I tried

Maybe the 1st step is to see if you can start Outlook in save mode. Start | Run. Then enter Outlook /safe.

You may need to enter the path to outlook to get this to work. If it starts, check your account setup and see if it's trying to load add-ins. Tools | Options | Other Tab | Advanced Options button. Disable any you find. File | Exit. Then try to start normally. If it starts, most likely one of your add-ins is acting up.

The only extra was messaging, which I turned off. Made no difference. Looks like I'll have to remove Office completely & re-install it. I can remove Office, that's easy, it's the completely bit that is beyond me. Any ideas?

    Peter

MS has utilities to completely remove (according to them) other office products. But I can't find one for Offic XP. Maybe someone else knows how to find it.

If you set a restore point before installing Office you could try to revert back. I've never done that, so I don't know how well it works.

Peter, I think that XP allows you to remove Office -components-. Try removing Outlook and all messaging services, then running disk diagnostics to make sure there's no media problems, then run a registry cleaner (see <!post=this,293551>this<!/post> thread), then reinstall Outlook. Good luck!
