    Footnotes (Word 2002)

I have a document someone sent me. It has footnotes in it. If I turn on the Hide/Show icon the first 3 footnotes numbers don't have a box around them. Footnotes 4thur 6 have a box around the footnote number. What causes that?

Yes. Also, some footnote numbers are bigger than others.

    Re: Footnotes (Word 2002)

Perhaps the "footnotes" with no boxes were manually typed and formatted to be superscript, rather than actually being inserted as a footnote using Word's footnote tool?

Since it is related, please continue the discussion over there (<post#=298430>post 298430</post#>). Two threads about the same subject are confusing, so I am locking this thread.
