    ASCI File (2000)

I am trying to download an ASCII file separated by commas. How do I get the values that are separated by commas into separate columns?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

If the file has extension .csv, you should be able to open it directly from Windows Explorer. By default, csv files are associated with Excel.

Otherwise, open the file from within Excel. The Import Text Wizard will guide you through the necessary steps.

Apart from Hans' advice, you can also import the file into a range in an existing file. To do that, choose Data, Get External DAta, import text file. Again the text import wizard will fire and guide you through the process.

The big advantage of this method is, that if you need to redo the import, all you have to do is select the range with the last import and choose Data, refresh data. Excel will prompt for the file again (you can choose another at will), but will have remembered the import settings !

Both methods worked great-thanks to you both!
