How to Get Display Properties, Color Settings Back (XP SP-1)

How to Get Display Properties, Color Settings Back?
    XP SP-1

Some how I lost my color settings. On Restart, the system tells me my color setting are low and offers to correct it automatically. When I click yes nothing happens.

When I manually go the Control Panel, Display and Settings, my only color quality choice is Lowest (4bit).

Where did my other choices go?

How do I get them back?

    Thanks, John

You have lost your Video Display Driver for your card. It seems to be using the Windows Display Adapter Drivers. You will need to re-install the Drivers for your Video Card. Did you change something recently or add any new Hardware or Software? You might try a System Restore also.

I selected Update Driver in Device Manager, Display Adapter and got my color quality Medium (32 bit) and Highest (32 bit) settings back and everything seems to be OK.

    Thanks, John

PS: What would Roll Back Driver button have done?

    John--

The roll back drive feature enables you to replace a drive with a previously installed version. Just an aside, John, I'd advise you and I think many in the lounge would to update your drivers, particularly your major device drivers from either the manufacturer's site or one of many many sites that offer updated drivers, hardware or gaming sites, because MS does not always have the latest best quality drivers available.

As SMBP says you really need to find the newest Drivers from the Manufacturer of your Video Card. What your using now is Microsofts Drivers for your Video Card and they are not always the best. But at least you have your Colors back for now.
