    Formula view (XP)

Last night in my Adult Ed class where I teach beginners Excel 2002 one of my students said she just couldn't do the formula we were writing. When I looked at her screen, and watched her write the formula by pointing and clicking, when she pressed Enter the formula still appeared in both the formula bar and the cell and the referenced cells were outlined in square blue lines. I've never seen this B4 - tried clearning all the formatting - went to options etc. everything looked okay to me. What am I missing?????

Try clearing the Formulas check box in the View tab of the Tools | Options... dialog.

Boy Hans - you sure made me feel as stupid as I was last night!!! Never occured to me and I show my students how to display their formulas all the time. Maybe it's time to hang it up and try something like basket weaving.

Nah - I'll just cop to my idiocy and keep on teaching.

Thanks again - it was driving me crazy.
