    Mouse clicks (IE6)

Recently, when browsing, I here mouse clicks at fairly frequent intervals, although nothing appears to happen.
I have a firewall and antivirus software( with recent updates) which reports no viruses detected. SpyBot S&D gives the all clear, as does HiJack This. Anybody else experienced anything similar?

    Hi Rob,

Not sure what you mean by "mouse clicks"?
I have a silent mouse, so no clicks are heard by me.

    Hi Bob,
When I click a button, hyperlink or hotspot etc, my speaker gives out an audible click noise. This is the sound I am hearing at intervals. It's as if someone or something is browsing on my behalf. I've heard it 5 times whilst writing this post.

    Rob,

If this has just started, did you just install any new progs or utilities that might have added the click sound?

If you go to Control Panel>Sounds & audio devices>Sounds, then check out the things that have a sound marker on them. Click each one to preview the sound and see if any are like what you are hearing. You can disable each sound by clicking on the drop down menu for it and selecting "none", then clicking "apply", to silence that sound.

    Rob,

I just took my own advice and ran down all of the enabled sounds in my system and the only one that is a default "click" is in Windows Explorer Start Navigation. Of course, yours may be different.

    Re: Mouse clicks (IE6)

Is it at every site or just here in the lounge?

If it's just the lounge, the adds down at the bottom get refreshed every once in a while, which may be causing the click you hear.

It's a setting somewhere that allows the page loads/reloads to be heard.

    Re: Mouse clicks (IE6)

    Hi Rob:
Bob's got the solution. When you first install Internet Explorer, the browser makes a sound each time you open a new page. Turn it off by Start/Settings/Control Panel/Sounds/Windows Explorer/Start Navigation/None. Do the same for the Complete Navigation selection if you see a sound associated with it.
    Cheers,
