Windows XP Pro Update kiils NAV LiveUpdate (SR1)

After applying all outstanding critical updates to Win XP Pro NAV Liveupdate reports "could not read or write a file it needed because you do not have sufficient access rights on this computer. It is recommended that only users with Power User or Administrator rights run LiveUpdate." Am logged on as administrator and have tried applying a password. No improvement. Have used Windows Restore to go back to prior to updates. No improvement. Have downloaded and insstalled latest (1.9) version of LiveUpdate. No improvement. Any suggestions?

Does it tell you, or can you figure out, what file it is trying to update? If you get the latest updates but it just can't log them, the problem is annoying but probably not critical... also, Symantec's knowledge base might have more information.

Can't tell what file LiveUpdate is unable to access and have trolled Symantec knowledgebase. Symantec talk about needing administrator access but this was not an issue prior to applying Wndows XP updates. Also using Administrator access does not change situation. Have even tried Windows Restore to go back to when LiveUpdate worked fine, but that didn't fix sitauion either. Can maintain uptodate virus definitions using Symantec intelligent updater but prefer convenience of LiveUpdate.
