    Error messages (2000 SP3)

If I try to create a database table using the wizard I get the error message "ActiveX component can't create object". Also, when trying to open a table in the Northwinds sample database I get the message "Could not read definitions. No read definitions permission for table .......". I have totally uninstalled and re-installed Office 2000 and applied the SP3 udate, to no avail. ANy ideas?

Sometimes it helps to re-register DAO:

Click Start, and then click Run.
Type regsvr32 followed by the path to your DAO file:
    regsvr32 "C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAODAO360.DLL"

Or you may need a newer version of MDAC. See Data Access Downloads.

Re-registering the DAO seemed to do the trick. Thanks so much for your quick and accurate response.
