Its a Hard Drive Crash

OK I like the Beatles and I think its appropriate to sing the Blues of a hard drive crash. So I recovered, and I reinstalled Win 2K. But now there is some setting that I need to change:
When I move a file from a CD or a floppy to my HD, I need to do the following in Windows Explorer:
1) Select the file(s)
2) Drag the file(s) while holding the SHIFT key
3) Release the Mouse, and then click again.
This extra click is what I need to get rid off.
If I need to copy file(s) I simply drag and drop and all works fine.
What setting is controlling this extra click?
