    Auto Number (2000)

Hello, I have built a new database but imported quite a few tables from an older d/b. How can I get the the auto number to default back to 1 (I have deleted all the old records as these are not needed)?

    Kind regards Darren.

Select Tools | Database Utilities | Compact and Repair Database...

There were some problems with resetting AutoNumber fields in early versions of Access 2000, but I can't check that right now, the Knowledge Base seems to be down at the moment.

The original version of Access 2000 did not correctly reset the autonumber seed after a compact and repair. That was fixed in SR-1. However, if you have installed any of the Jet 4.0 service packs, SP4 or higher, it got broken again.
