    Cell Format - Accounting (2000)

A friend of mine is having troubles using the Cell Format - Accounting category. She wants to be able to see negative numbers in brackets. She sent me the file and I was able to do it without any problems in Excel 2002. I tried doing the same thing in Excel 2000, and again didnt have any problems.
Can anyone figure out why it isnt working for her? Any input would be great, thanks,

Re: Cell Format - Accounting (2000)

If she selects the cells with the accounting format and chooses format cells, custom, what is the "Type":

This is what I get in XL97 for 2 decimal palces. It will use parentheses "( )" not brackets "[ ]":
    <pre>_($* #,##0.00_);_($* (#,##0.00);_($* "-"??_);_(@_)</pre>

If you want to use brackets you can change it to:
    <pre>_($* #,##0.00_);_($* "["#,##0.00"]";_($* "-"??_);_(@_)</pre>
