    Margins

    I had thought I knew the answer to this one... getting the web page to fit snugly to the edges of the screen - well, top margin is ok.

    Here is my code...
    <body bgcolor="#FFFFcc" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" bottommargin="0" rightmargin="0" offset="0" onLoad="">

    Here is my page... http://www.wisteriahouse.co.uk/cg/mar.htm ...
    but it's not fitting the window to 100% width on the two computers I have looked at - using IE5/ 5.5 and Opera 4.02

    Can anyone help please?

    Also, I got the code from a site I inherited... what does Offset do, and what does Onload do?

    Thanks

    It's in your style sheet:

    body { background-color: #FFFFCC; margin-right: 50px; margin-left: 50px}

    Aha - well spotted - thank you!!

    But that raises another question as I thought 'properties' set on the individual page took precedence over the style sheet...?

    Styles are not my strong suit, but I think if your body tag in the document uses the STYLE= attributes rather than the older HTML ones, then they probably would override the style sheet. Otherwise, it's two different systems and the results are unpredictable. But I haven't tested it, so I don't know for sure.

    Re: Margins

    Sorry about delay in replying - no styles aren't my strong point either... but it does seem that my heading style margins were affecting the page margins.

    Thanks for your help.
