autodeleting read messages (Office XP 2003)

When I open my Inbox and begin reading e-mails, the previous e-mails that I have already read completely disappear and I can't find them anywhere. Help!

Have you got the View in the Views menu set to only show unread messages? HTH

I don't have a "view" setting in the "views" menu. Clarify??

Pardon me, I took you to be running Office XP. You appear to be running Office 2003. As I have not yet seen Office 2003 in action, I cannot comment further.

Like unkamunka, I do not have '03. In Outlook '03 Help, see if there is a section called "Organizing and Viewing Items" with a subsection called "Changing Views", and look through it.
