    Com port connection problem

I have win2k on an IBM laptop with a 3com combo lan/modem card. I'm having a problem with any program (including hyperterminal) that trys to make a direct connection to the com port that the modem is on. I get a connection failure.

Any program that addresses the dialup connection as configured in control panel works fine, just any program that has a direct connection to com2 that fails.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have the Windows 2000 driver installed for this 3com card?

Or are you using the 3com drivers for Win 2000 for this card?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Used the driver off the Win2k disk. Can't seem to find a Win2k driver from 3com for the 3CCFEM556B card.

That may be your problem, remember that some of the se venders are NOT updating drivers for 2K and XP. Check with 3com support and they will tell if have or will support this card on the news OS's. <img src=/S/aflame.gif border=0 alt=aflame width=15 height=15>
