Outlook Rule copies rather than moves messages in (Outlook 2k)

I have a number of rules set up to move incoming messages from the inbox selectively to other folders in a POP3 setup. the rules work in the sense that they detect the messages as I wish, but they copy the messages rather than move them. This means that my careful sequencing of the rules falls apart because there is no sense of weeding out as the rules are successively applied. I really think I understand rules and have no problem at work, but this is an W2K / exchange environment.

Am I stuck with the copy bit because it is POP3?

    Thanks for ideas,

    Mike C

Re: Outlook Rule copies rather than moves messages in (Outlook 2k)

In my W2k Exchange environment, I have a single Rule that Moves, not Copies. The Rule simply reads:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
move it to the mypstfolder folder

This is a Client Side Rule, which means it only operates on my PC when Outlook is loaded, but when I start up OL new received messages initially show in the default Inbox, but are then all processed by the Rule.

Even if you have Rule conflicts the Move should work. I can't think of any Options or Exchange settings that would cause a Move Incoming Message Rule to fail or work to Copy. (There are some tricks with moving Sent messages.)
