Windows XP: Dos Mode? (Windows XP Home Edition)

Does the Home Edition of Windows XP have a DOS Mode? I need to reformat my computer. I've tried the Run > Format C:, but it says that the drive is locked, so I'm assuming that I need to go into DOS Mode, but I can't find DOS Mode! Help!

Try booting your installation CD and formatting the drive from the installation menu. Or boot an old Windows 98 startup disk if you still have one.

Well, I only have a Restore Disk, and that doesn't work. It'll get halfway through restoring, and then say.. "Symantec Ghost Files Not Found." I have no idea why it needs Symatec Ghost to restore. But, Nothing works. I even tried a DOS Bootdisk, and you can't restore C: from those. Argh! Windows XP came with this PC, so I don't have the installation disk.

IF the restore disk doesn't work then you need to log a call with the people who supplied the computer. What company is it?

By the way, WinXP does not have a True Dos Mode.

And, you can (shouldn't) NEVER format the C: drive while in Windows. If you really want to CYA, I'd get myself a good, Win98SE boot diskette.

    Just tryin' to learn--

You have XP Home on one of your partitions. It's running well. Why and what do you need to format--are you reinstalling? If you were, you could and would automatically reformat.
