    Addin causes reboot on some PCs (word 2000)

    The attached word addin causes some PCs to reboot others it does not. I have been placing it in the Word/Start folder so that it is loaded automatically. The code does not do anything that should cause a reboot. Here is thecode from the one one module that is in it.

    Option Explicit

    Private Sub InvokeFieldEditor(fieldname As String)
    Dim PPC_OBPA As Object

    Set PPC_OBPA = Application.COMAddIns("PPCOBPA.Connect").Object
    If Not PPC_OBPA Is Nothing Then
    PPC_OBPA.FieldEditor fieldname, ActiveDocument
    End If
    Set PPC_OBPA = Nothing
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetClientName()
    InvokeFieldEditor "ClientName"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetClientAddr1()
    InvokeFieldEditor "ClientAddr1"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetClientAddr2()
    InvokeFieldEditor "ClientAddr2"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetClientAddr3()
    InvokeFieldEditor "ClientAddr3"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetClientCity()
    InvokeFieldEditor "ClientCity"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetClientState()
    InvokeFieldEditor "ClientState"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetClientZip()
    InvokeFieldEditor "ClientZip"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetClientCountry()
    InvokeFieldEditor "ClientCountry"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetBalanceSheetDate()
    InvokeFieldEditor "BalanceSheetDate"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetPPCRef()
    InvokeFieldEditor "PPCRef"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetPubDate()
    InvokeFieldEditor "PubDate"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetBookCode()
    InvokeFieldEditor "BookCode"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_GetIndex()
    InvokeFieldEditor "Index"
    End Sub

    Sub PPC_LinkManager()
    Shell "LinkManager.exe " + Selection.Style
    End Sub

    Public Sub PPC_SignOff()
    Dim PPC_OBPA As Object

    Set PPC_OBPA = Application.COMAddIns("PPCOBPA.Connect").Object
    If Not PPC_OBPA Is Nothing Then
    PPC_OBPA.SignOff
    End If

    Set PPC_OBPA = Nothing

    End Sub

    Public Sub PPC_SignOffNA()
    Dim PPC_OBPA As Object

    Set PPC_OBPA = Application.COMAddIns("PPCOBPA.Connect").Object
    If Not PPC_OBPA Is Nothing Then
    PPC_OBPA.SignOffNA
    End If

    Set PPC_OBPA = Nothing

    End Sub

    Public Sub PPC_ClearSignOffs()
    Dim PPC_OBPA As Object

    Set PPC_OBPA = Application.COMAddIns("PPCOBPA.Connect").Object
    If Not PPC_OBPA Is Nothing Then
    PPC_OBPA.ClearSignOffs
    End If

    Set PPC_OBPA = Nothing

    End Sub

    Public Sub PPC_DisplayPCs(ShowPCs As Boolean)
    Dim PPC_OBPA As Object

    Set PPC_OBPA = Application.COMAddIns("PPCOBPA.Connect").Object
    If Not PPC_OBPA Is Nothing Then
    PPC_OBPA.DisplayPCs (ShowPCs)
    End If

    Set PPC_OBPA = Nothing

    End Sub

    Public Sub PPC_HidePCs()
    PPC_DisplayPCs (False)
    End Sub

    Public Sub PPC_ShowPCs()

    What is the PPCOBPA Add-In?

    This macro simply calls the add-in lots of times, without seeing the code for the Add-in we can;t really guess what the problem is.

    Windows restarts completely without a crash error? Is Word closing first?

    You might add some file writes to log where it stops behaving correctly. Without that information, it's awfully hard to make progress toward a solution.

    There certainly are API calls that will shut down Windows, but it's difficult to call them accidentally. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
