1. ## Four Letter Words

Oh no - it's a home-made puzzle!

Just fill in the empty spaces with common 4-letter words. New words will be created in the process using the existing letters. A portion of the new 4-letter word will be used in the first word and a portion of the new 4-letter word will be used to form the third word. It is also possible that the first and third word will share some letters. See the three examples within the diagram. Usually, a word puzzle will reveal more than one correct solution, so this time there's a twist...

If you solve the puzzle using the same 4-letter words I have selected, the pink squares will have some significance. Therefore, the winner of this puzzle will be the one who correctly solves the mystery of the ten pink squares.

12. ## Re: Four Letter Words

Well, we knew there could be multiple 4-letter words that would make each line work out. The object here was to find the correct combination that would make the pink squares do something...

The correct lines so far...<span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>
4. GOAL
5. CHIN
6. EDGE
9. CASH - But RUSH will work too, either puts the "S" in the right place!
11. THEN
13. AREA</font color=yellow></span hi>

The quick attempt at a final solution wasn't correct.

So, let's give you a target - The Final Solution will be ten letters that can be anagrammed into two 5-letter words that could be defined as a "place". Never been there but I've seen pictures <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

13. ## Re: Four Letter Words

Jerry was also correct on<span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow>
12. CONE</font color=yellow></span hi>

This leaves #1, #7 and #8 still to be solved and supply the remaining three letter to the Final Solution...

14. ## Re: Four Letter Words

Ok Ricky

One more after this

<span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold"><font color=yellow> 7. Sing
8. Rain </font color=yellow></span hi>

Signing off for the day and will sleep on the last, probably to dream of sun worship and Moor (sic)

Jerry

15. ## Re: Four Letter Words

Yes! - Correct on both. Still looking for #1. BTW: Jerry has correctly solved the 'pink square' puzzle via PM.
Thanks for leaving the puzzle open to others.
