    Numbering - Leading Zeros (Word 2000)

    I need to create automatic exhibit numbers that must be 6 characters long with leading zeros. I.e., 000001, 000002 ... 000052 ....000112, etc. Is this possible in MSWord? If so, how do I do it?

    Re: Numbering - Leading Zeros (Word 2000)

    Hi Martha,

    It's not possible with a list template (style-based numbering, ListNum fields).

    But you can do it pretty easily with SEQ fields:
    { seq myList # 000000 }

    You can use "Insert > Field..." from the menu, or insert the field braces with Ctrl+F9.

    If you need more specific information (start at a certain number, repeat numbers, change the numeric picture), you can look at the help topics on the SEQ field, and on general switches for fields (especially the >> link for the numeric picture).
