    Spool 32 Errors

Help! We are having a rash of Spool 32 errors - running Office 2000 with Windows 98. Can anybody give me some ideas on how to correct these errors?

    Thanks a bunch.

Have you tried to reinstall the drivers, that is what I had to do.

It is best to uninstall them and then do a reboot and have the computer find new hardware, unless this is on a network.

If it is on a network, just uninstall them and then reinstall.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Yep, we tried that. Got the most updated drivers we could, but to no avail. But thanks anyway!

Remember just cause that they are NEW does NOT mean they are better. On some printers I have better luck if I use the drivers that came <img src=/S/flatcat.gif border=0 alt=flatcat width=61 height=21>with the printer than I do with NEW downloaded drivers. <img src=/S/threadhead.gif border=0 alt=threadhead width=28 height=31>

After the Uninstall and Reboot, I run a Defrag. I learned from experience that it is possible to recreate the same problem despite many re-installs. Seem that if you recreate the same file over the corrupted file you also recreate the corruption <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15> <img src=/S/question.gif border=0 alt=question width=15 height=15>

We tried zillions of things, but the problems appear to be intermittent, so it's very frustrating.

On the desktop, we dug into the printer dialogs' Spool settings (HP Lasers 5M and 4050 series) and selected print directly to the printer, raw format. EMF format didn't do any better.

On the server (NT4), which is configured mostly using LPR drivers, we disabled birdirectional printing. Using the HP discovery method didn't do any better.

I wonder if there's a revenue opportunity in a replacement print spooler...
