Automatic Paragraph Numbering (Word 2000)

If I have a document which already has auotmatic para numbering. Is there any way I can change these automatic numbers to normal editable numbers?
    Thanks.

(Edited by HansV on 15-Oct-03 13:10. Added another method.)
For a one-off conversion:

    - Open the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11)
    - Activate the Immediate window (Ctrl+G)
    - Type ActiveDocument.ConvertNumbersToText and press Enter.
    - Switch back to Word (Alt+F11)

If you need to do this often, create a macro in Normal.dot or in a global template that executes the instruction mentioned above, and assign it to a keyboard shortcut and/or custom toolbar button.

Added: if your document is relatively simple, you can save it as a Word 2.x for Windows document, then re-open it. But if you used "advanced" features in the document, they will be lost.
