    Front Page uninstall problem

I uninstalled MS Front Page 2000 resulting in a removal of a dll being "MS09.DLL", this comes up as an error reading each time I boot, anyone out there that can help me reinstall this dll without reinstalling FP, Ive tried grabbing the dll from the FP cd but it will not allow without installing it again. Another interesting notation is by installing MS Front Page it replaces & removes FP Express, I cant find a way to reinstall FP Express, any ideas?

Isn't FP Express part of IE now? perhaps a custom IE install would help.

    Re: Front Page uninstall problem

Hi & thks for the thought, yes FP Express is indeed a part of MSIE 4 & 5, however not the upgraded version MS FRONT PAGE, when I was sucked into trying the full version of FRONT PAGE, it completely uninstalled FP Express from MSIE 5.5, Ive even tried uninstalling MSIE completely and reinstalling, however it does not reinstate the original FP Express (the edited version of the full FRONT PAGE which is a teaser to encourage morons like me to upgrade & pay the bucks to do so). Many thanks for trying to help, Ill continue to ask others who might have been caught out with the same thing, guess those who install the full version of MS FP are unlikely to unintall it - therefore the problem has perhaps not yet become evident. Big thankU for the thought though, Im up for any suggestions to try.

Perhaps trying to add/remove features for any Office product you have installed would restore the file. Or maybe "repair." If not, perhaps there is a way to extract it from the Office CD, but I haven't browsed around on it myself.

    Re: Front Page uninstall problem

You can remove the reference to the dll in the Registry to clear the problem.

Remember to back it up first. Good luck.

    Re: Front Page uninstall problem

jscher2000, thanks for the suggestion,Ive tried uninstalling & reinstalling MS Office 97 to no avail, Ive figured since my MS FP was 2000 then the dll is related to 2000 rather than Office 97 - Id also tried your other suggestion, however reinstalling MS FP 2000 will not allow me to extract specific files without reinstalling the program in full, around in circles I go, but I do thank you for at least making me feel Im trying what appears to be logical suggestions from those who no doubt know better than I. Thanks again - Cyberdancer

    Re: Front Page uninstall problem

PC, while willing to try lots of stuff, I am uncomfortable in the registry, forgive me for not being game enough to enter this area. I understand a little about it, but "removing the reference to the missing dll" confuses my non technical brain, thinking that Im trying to reinstall the missing dll, rather than remove reference to it?
Thanks for the comment though, appreciate it - sorry Im too much of a coward to tackle the registry.....Cyberdancer

There's cowardice and there is appropriate caution. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15> And I for one would be a coward right behind you.
Tell us what else is loaded on your system. Perhaps there is another way.

    Re: Front Page uninstall problem

WebGenii, thanks for the registry support, the rest of my system is loaded with non MS related pic & graphics programs, I use html for web pages, it was a huge mistake to try MS FP2000 for a client, because it slowed down my system and I really didnt think it that great. I figure the only thing I can now try is to once again reinstall MS FP & see if I can minimize the load by directing most of it to run from disc (but Id done that mostly originally), its the only thing I have not yet tried - Ive not wanted to reinstall it unless absolutely necessary. Thought I could pickup the MS09.DLL from the MS site, but no luck. Appreciate you trying to think of an alternative, Im open to any thoughts, many thanks, Cyber

Do you have any other MS office apps on your system?

    Re: Front Page Problem solved

Hi all & tks WebGenii for trying to help, I solved the prob by reinstalling MS FP 2000 using a customize install, ticked everything but TOOLS to run from the cd, seems the missing MS09.DLL was in that group of tools which only takes 400 kb. Perhaps not the best way to resolve the issue, but Im (finally) no longer getting the error reading at startup. Happy easter everyone. Cyber
